Cory Martin, who runs the Goshen office for Rep. Mark Souder, will be present at the next meeting of the Bristol Town Council (BTC) on Thursday, December 17, at 7:00 p.m.
Cory will be responding to a list of pointed questions sent to Congressman Souder about the rumored closing of the Bristol post office. He also promised to seek answers to any questions that come from the BTC or the audience on this subject.
Mr. Martin related by phone that he spoke to a representative of the U.S. Postal Service in Indianapolis, who assured him that “we don’t do these things in secret,” referring to any possible post office closings. Meetings would be set up for public input before any such steps were taken, he was told.
The USPS representative said that Bristol “has nothing to worry about” regarding its post office. Nevertheless, Cory promised to try to find out “the exact process” that would be followed, if a post office closing were being contemplated.
Members of the Bristol community are urged to attend the December 17 meeting, so that they can hear first-hand the latest developments in this unfolding story.
