Bristol Town Marshal’s Report – August 2009

Homecoming from the police department’s perspective went very well.  There were no major problems.  The attendees were very good with minimal issues that caused problems.  Thanks to the committee, the carnival and a special thanks to Chuck and Tom Feldman and their crew for an excellent fireworks display.  The full time officers worked 219 hours over the three day festival; Reserves donated another 345 hours and the Posse donated an addition 219 hours.  The mounted units and bike patrols made some interesting and effective arrests from OWI and drug charges to violations of safety restraints.  The bike patrols will continue through the summer months.

Reminder, our town fireworks ordinance allows for the discharge of fireworks from June 29th to July 9th.  The second period per year is December 31st from 10 am through 1:00 am on January 1st and only during these periods.

Our cases were down in July.  We remind everyone to use safety, secure your home and vehicles.  Most important, be watchful of your neighborhood and please report any suspicious activity or what appears out of place to you.  Also be guarded on giving any important personal information over the phone or internet.  Be sure you know who you are talking to and dealing with.  Frauds continue to rise.  Remember if it looks or sounds to good to be true, it probably is.  These types of cases continue to increase.  Be watchful of bank and charge accounts.  Report any noted activity immediately to your banking institution and police department.

Officer Mosher attended Reid Interview and Interrogation training in July 1-3.

Officer Garner and Sgt. Lynch attended FTO School (certified Field Training Officers).

Reserve Officer Eash attended Interdiction School (Drug Awareness and Apprehension).  He volunteered his time to attend this training.

During the construction of SR 15, please follow proper detours, allow extra time for travel and remember to be patient.  It will only last a few months and the roadway will be much improved they tell us.  It appears everyone is doing much better following the directed detour.

Ordinance violations continue.  We thank all those who have all ready corrected violations and continue to correct and improve.  Anyone having questions, please call or stop by the police department and get a copy of the ordinance for nuisance or any other ordinance.  We continue to give thank you letters for those who have complied.  Parents also remember the curfew ordinance for those 17 years of age and under.
